Offered for sale is a very rare U.S. set of two colored vinyl copies of Milk and Honey by John Lennon and Yoko Ono – one on green vinyl and one on yellow vinyl.
About this copy: These copies of Milk and Honey are both on colored vinyl, with one copy having a green disc and one having a yellow (sometimes called “gold vinyl”) disc.
These colored vinyl pressings were originally issued without a cover, but we’ve found covers for them to offer them as complete LPs.
Green vinyl copy:
The cover is M- and retains the original shrink wrap and the original hype sticker.
The green vinyl disc is M- and appears to be unplayed.
Yellow vinyl copy:
The cover is VG+, with slight edge and corner wear. It still has the original hype sticker and includes a promotional stamp on the back of the cover.
The yellow vinyl disc is M- and appears to be unplayed.
A beautiful copy of two rare John Lennon items. We’ve had the green one a few times in the past, but this is the first time we’ve had a copy of the yellow version. We’ve never seen the two offered for sale as a set before anywhere.
Background: Milk and Honey was the first posthumous release by John Lennon, and the album reached #11 on the U.S. album charts and #3 in the UK, helped by the single “Nobody Told Me.”
Shortly after the album’s release, a record company employee at Polygram pressed an unknown number of copies of Milk and Honey on both green and yellow vinyl for their own use and for sale to collectors on the private market.
While technically unauthorized, these discs were pressed from the same stampers as the black vinyl copies that were shipped to stores and are indistinguishable from them, aside from the colored vinyl.
The colored vinyl discs were originally distributed to collectors without covers and copies of the album on either color are quite hard to find today.
