With the untimely passing of Jimi Hendrix in September, 1970, both his UK and American record labels worked diligently to keep new product coming out. That wasn’t too difficult; Hendrix spent hundreds of hours in the studio and left uncounted numbers of unfinished recordings. Studio executives were eagerly going through all of it to see if there were any gems in the tapes, and several posthumous albums were released in the first decade after his death.
War Heroes, released in 1972, is one such album. Containing such songs as Stepping Stone, Izabella, and Tax Free, the album sold well for a short period of time before being deleted later in the decade. War Heroes is rather hard to find today, and is not currently available on CD, though the material from the album is available in various compilations.
Offered for sale is a still sealed American pressing of War Heroes, Reprise MS2103. The album is unopened, and the album is assumed to be in mint, unplayed condition. There is a 2″ square tear on the upper right hand corner of the cover, probably where a previous owner removed a price sticker. There is also a very tiny cut corner on the lower right part of the cover.
A great copy of a hard to find album by a rock icon.
