Description
Offered for sale is a rare “split” black and red pressing of Sky High by Jimi Hendrix, issued in 1972 on the Skydog label.
Background: This copy of Sky High is an original 1972 U.S. pressing of an LP that purportedly includes Jim Morrison and Johnny Winter.
The cover is VG++, with slight corner wear.
The black/red vinyl disc is VG++, with a couple of faint sleeve marks that shouldn’t affect play.
A nice copy of a scarce Hendrix LP and the first copy we’ve had on split vinyl in many years.
Background: Released in 1972, Sky High is an album that purportedly features Jimi Hendrix, Mitch Mitchell, Noel Redding, Jim Morrison, and Johnny Winter performing in a loose jam session, though Johnny Winter later denied performing on that recording.
The tapes have been released under a number of titles over the years, including “Woke Up This Morning and Found Myself Dead,” “High, Live & Dirty,” and “Bleeding Heart.”
The pressings called Sky High on Skydog records are among the earliest versions of the album, and most of those pressings were on colored vinyl. Some were solid colors, and a few were “split,” with the vinyl pressed using two different colors of vinyl.
