Offered for sale is a sealed copy of Jennifer Warnes’ 1992 LP, The Hunter, released by Cisco Records in 2008 as a numbered, limited edition.
Despite a couple of hits and decades of minor success, Jennifer Warnes didn’t really take the music world by notice until the release of her 1987 LP, Famous Blue Raincoat, an album that was highly regarded by both critics and audiophiles. Her follow-up, 1992’s The Hunter, wasn’t quite as successful and was not released on vinyl in the United States. The only pressing available at the time of the album’s original release was a German pressing which was pressed on paper-thin vinyl. The album is quite well recorded, and due to the rarity of the vinyl issue, those original German pressings were selling for as much as $600 until just a couple of years ago.
In 2008, the small Cisco label pressed a limited number of copies of The Hunter on 180 gram heavy vinyl and included a high-quality color cover (the original pressings had a black and white cover.) The Hunter was Cisco’s last release prior to going out of business. That’s a pity, as the album is quite well mastered and pressed and sounds terrific.
The copy offered for sale is still sealed and unplayed. The back cover has a sticker on it indicating that this is copy 3205/8000.
A great-sounding pressing of a terrific album.
