Offered for sale is a still sealed U.S. mono pressing of the 1965 compilation LP Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag by James Brown.
This is an original issue of the LP, with the banner on the cover in red, rather than the green banner used on later issues.
About this copy: This copy of Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag is an original 1965 mono pressing on the King label.
As the album is still sealed, the record is presumably new and unplayed.
The wrap is fully intact, with no rips, tears or holes. There’s a bit of wear under the wrap, as is common on these older King LPs. There is part of an original price sticker attached to the upper left-hand corner of the cover with a staple.
A beautiful copy of an album that is usually found in terrible condition, as most buyers played their James Brown LPs until they were completely worn out.
Background: Released in 1965, Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag was the third U.S. compilation album by James Brown.
Helped by the inclusion of the title track, the album reached #26 on the U.S. album chart.
Papa may have had a brand new bag, but when King Records wanted an LP to go with James Brown’s first pop Top Ten hit, he didn’t have a brand-new set of songs to go with it. So this record leads off with both sides of the single, “Part 1” and “Part 2,” and then fills up the remaining 25 minutes with previously released tracks, many with a dance theme in keeping with the hit, such as “Mashed Potatoes, U.S.A.” and “Doin’ the Limbo.” The result is a miscellaneous compilation, much of which is set at quick tempos.
This record is eligible for PayPal Credit financing by PayPal. U.S. customers may choose to pay later at checkout, and may receive up to six months financing with no interest. Click the banner below for more information. (opens in a new window)
