Offered for sale is an ultra-rare original Japanese pressing of Whipped Cream & Other Delights by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.
Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass dominated the charts in the 1960s, with their catchy mix of Latin-flavored pop tunes that also happened to be great-sounding records.
Whipped Cream & Other Delights is probably their best known LP, including the Top 10 hit “A Taste of Honey” and three tunes that were used as bumper music on the long running The Dating Game on TV in the 1960s and 1970s.
The album is also well known for its iconic cover, featuring model Dolores Erickson covered in shaving cream.
While the band was quite popular in the United States, as Whipped Cream & Other Delights reached #1 on the charts, they were less so abroad, and the album wasn’t released in Japan until 1969, which might explain why Japanese copies are so rare.
