A sealed limited edition picture disc LP of Heart's Dreamboat Annie.
Offered for sale is a still sealed copy of the limited edition picture disc pressing of Heart’s Dreamboat Annie, released in 1979.
Due to disagreements with their first record company, Mushroom Records, Heart left the label during the recording of their second album, Magazine, to record for CBS. Mushroom was left with little in the way of material from the band to generate sales from older product. Then the picture disc fad came along in 1978, and the label got the idea of issuing Magazine as a numbered, limited edition picture disc.
It became the best-selling picture disc ever, selling more than 100,000 copies in the U.S. and another 30,000 in Canada. The following year, Mushroom decided to do the same thing with Heart’s debut LP, Dreamboat Annie.
The picture disc editions of Magazine are quite common, but the picture discs of Dreamboat Annie were pressed in far fewer numbers, since the public had started to become a bit weary of the picture disc phenomenon by the time the album was issued in that format. As a result, the picture discs of Dreamboat Annie are relatively scarce, and there are probably 20 copies of the Magazine picture disc for every picture disc of Dreamboat Annie.
About this copy: This copy of Dreamboat Annie is a still sealed original picture disc pressing, issued in 1979. As it is sealed, the record is presumably new and unplayed. The wrap is fully intact except for small 1″ tear at the bottom right corner of the cover. There are no cuts, tears, rips, cut corners or cutout holes.
A beautiful copy of a somewhat scarce picture disc LP.
