Offered for sale is an original red vinyl pressing of the 1968 Japan-only second album by the Golden Cups, the cleverly-titled Album Vol. 2.
About this copy: This copy of Album Vol. 2 is an original 1968 Japanese pressing on the Capitol label, pressed on “Everclean” red vinyl and including the original obi.
The cover is M-, with a small corner bend. The obi is M- with no tears, rips or holes, but a small amount of foxing. The “hojyuhyo,” or re-order tag, is attached.
The original envelope-style paper inner sleeve is included.
As this LP was issued with a gatefold cover with a lyric booklet, there was no insert issued with this LP.
The red vinyl disc is M- and looks unplayed.
A beautiful copy of a terrific, if offbeat, LP.
Background: The Golden Cups were one of the top bands in Japan in the late 1960s, and a couple of band members had previously spent some time in the United States, and they were heavily influenced by their time there.
Like their debut LP, Golden Cups Album, Album Vol. 2 is a mixture of vocal and instrumental tracks, and a mixture of originals and covers. Their material ranged from pedestrian to “truly out there.”
