Description
Offered for sale is a rare Japanese pressing of Gentle Giant, the self-titled debut LP by the band of the same name, complete with original obi.
About this copy: This copy of Gentle Giant is a 1978 Japanese pressing of an LP that was originally released in 1970.
The cover is VG+, with slight wear at the corners and top edge. The included lyric insert has a bit of foxing, but is otherwise clean.
The obi is VG+, with a few minor wrinkles. Someone has marked the back with a few small red dots.
The record is M- and looks as though it might have been played once.
A nice copy of a terrific LP that’s quite hard to find as a Japanese pressing.
Background: Gentle Giant was released in 1970, and drew no notice anywhere, though the album sold reasonably well later, after the band had established themselves with later LPs.
Allmusic.com gave Gentle Giant a 4 star review:
Astonishingly daring debut album, not as focused or overpowering as King Crimson’s first but still crashing down barriers and steamrolling expectations. The mix of medieval harmonies and electric rock got stronger on subsequent albums, but the music here is still pretty jarring. …”Nothing at All” by itself is worth the price of purchase.
