Description
Offered for sale is a rare multicolored vinyl white label promotional copy of Soulful Saxophone by Gene Ammons.
About this copy: This copy of Soulful Saxophone is an original 1959 mono white label promo on the Chess label. In the late 1950s, Chess Records pressed a few promotional LPs on beautiful multicolor vinl; these pressings were only for promotional use and were not for sale to the public.
The cover is VG with a bit of general wear and wear at the corners and edges and a repaired 2″ split at the top edge. The original “wax paper” style inner sleeve is included.
The multicolor vinyl disc is VG++, with just a couple of faint marks. The record has clearly had little play.
A beautiful copy of a highly regarded LP that is usually found in terrible condition.
Background: Released in 1959, Soulful Saxophone was a compilation of recordings from 1948-1951 that had previously been released only as singles.
