About this copy: This copy of Shut Up ‘n Play Yer Guitar is a 1982 Japanese pressing on the CBS/Sony label of a set that was originally released in 1981 as three separate albums.
The cover is VG++ with very slight edge and corner wear. The obi is M-. The insert is M-.
The three custom inner sleeves are M-.
The three discs are M- with one or two spindle marks on the labels, but no marks on the vinyl. Clean discs!
A beautiful copy of a fairly rare (and very good) Frank Zappa set.
Background: Released only via mail order in 1981, Shut Up ‘n Play Yer Guitar, Shut Up ‘n Play Yer Guitar Some More and Return of the Son of Shut Up ‘n Play Yer Guitar were three albums by Frank Zappa that consisted only of live guitar solos.
The following year, all three LPs were sold commercially as a three LP set. The album did not chart.

While most of the discussions of Frank Zappa have to do with his satirical and off-color lyrics, the fact remains that he was one of the finest and most underappreciated guitarists around. This collection places the spotlight squarely on Zappa’s mastery of the guitar. Recorded for the most part in 1979 and 1980 (with a few tracks dating as far back as 1977), Shut Up ‘n Play Yer Guitar is simply a collection of guitar solos. Even though most of the tracks were just edited out of their original song context, they fare well as stand-alone pieces, as Zappa was an ever-inventive player. … This is an album that should be heard by anyone who’s into guitar playing. Highly recommended.
