Offered for sale is a rare variation of the limited edition white vinyl pressing of Rumours by Fleetwood Mac, issued in the Netherlands in 1978.
This copy isn’t pure white; it’s grey and white marbled vinyl, and it may be unique.
About this copy: This copy of Rumours is a rare grey and white marbled vinyl pressing, issued in Holland in 1978.
This was a limited edition pressing, and all of the copies were supposed to be white. This particular copy is not; it has a lot of grey vinyl swirled in it. This may have been the work of a pressing plant employee pressing it for their own use, or it may have been a pressing plant error.
We have no idea if there were many discs pressed like this one or if this copy is the only one pressed on marbled vinyl.
The cover is VG+, with a bit of general wear. There is a hype sticker that says “Attention! Limited Edition on Coloured Vinyl” on the cover. The custom inner sleeve is included; unlike most copies, this one has no splits!
The marbled vinyl disc is M- and may be unplayed.
A beautiful copy of a great record and the only copy we’ve ever seen if this pressing that wasn’t pure white.
Background: Collectors were showing a lot of interest in colored vinyl in the late 1970s, so record companies around the world began releasing old and then-new titles as limited edition colored vinyl pressings to accommodate them. These titles were widely exported to the United States, where they were sold at premium prices – roughly twice the price of a domestic LP.
In the Netherlands, a number of titles were released by artists that included the Rolling Stones, Queen, David Bowie, and Fleetwood Mac.
