Offered for sale is a Japanese pressing of 461 Ocean Boulevard by Eric Clapton, complete with obi.
About this copy: This copy of 461 Ocean Boulevard is a Japanese pressing, complete with obi and lyric insert.
While we’re not sure exactly when this copy was pressed, it appears to be a third issue, as there are three different catalog numbers stamped in the dead wax.
Cover, obi, and disc are all M- and the album appears to have had little play.
Background: 461 Ocean Boulevard, released in 1974, was Eric Clapton’s first album in three years, and both the album and the lead single, Bob Marley’s “I Shot the Sheriff,” reached #1 on the American charts.
461 Ocean Boulevard is Eric Clapton’s second studio solo album, arriving after his side project of Derek and the Dominos and a long struggle with heroin addiction. Although there are some new reggae influences, the album doesn’t sound all that different from the rock, pop, blues, country, and R&B amalgam of Eric Clapton. However, 461 Ocean Boulevard is a tighter, more focused outing that enables Clapton to stretch out instrumentally….Though he tried hard to make an album exactly like it, he never quite managed to replicate its charms.
