About this copy: This copy of The Celts is an original German pressing, issued in 1992 as a reissue of an album that had originally been released in 1987 with a different cover and title.
The cover is M-, with a 1/2″ split at the top center. The disc is M-, with a tiny inaudible mark through one track.
A nice copy of a rare LP.
Background: Released in 1992, The Celts was a reissue of the 1987 LP Enya.
The album did not chart in the United States.
Initially released simply as Enya, The Celts shows that the style she became famous for on Watermark was already well under way. With production and lyrical help fully in place thanks to her husband-and-wife gurus Nicky and Roma Ryan, Enya’s combination of Celtic traditionalism and distinctly modern approach finds lush flower here. All the elements that characterize her music — open, clear nods to her Irish heritage, any number of vocal overdubs to create an echoing, haunting feeling, and layers of synth and electronic percussion — can be found almost track for track.
