A rare sealed UK pressing of the Eagles Desperado LP, pressed by Nimbus Records and sold only via mail order
Offered for sale is a rare sealed UK “Nimbus Supercut” pressing of the Eagles Desperado LP, pressed in 1984 and sold only via mail order.
In 1984, the UK audio magazines Practical Hi-Fi and Hi-Fi Today offered their readers the opportunity to purchase audiophile pressings of certain jazz, pop/rock and classical titles which were pressed in the UK by Nimbus Records. These titles were carefully mastered and pressed on quiet, high-quality vinyl and sold only via mail order. Pressing quantities are unknown, but we doubt that more than 1000 copies were pressed of any single title.
All of these pressings are scarce, and they are all highly sought out by audiophiles for their sound quality and their quiet vinyl. While some titles are more common than others, titles by the Beatles, Pink Floyd and the Eagles seem to be the hardest ones in the series to find.
The copy of Desperado that we are offering here is one of those rare mail order titles, and one of the most sought-after titles in the series. While the cover (and likely the record) appear to be standard Asylum pressings, the record should have “Nimbus England” stamped in the dead wax and the cover has a sticker on it that says “Supercut – Mastered and pressed exclusively for readers of Hi-Fi Today by Nimbus Records.”
The copy offered for sale is in exceptional condition and is still sealed and presumed to be mint and unplayed. The shrink wrap is fully intact with no rips, tears or holes. Unlike many titles in this series, this copy also has no seam splits. It’s as close to a perfect copy as you’ll ever see.
