Description
Offered for sale is a still sealed original U.S. mono pressing of Strange Days by the Doors.
Note: While the shrink wrap on the cover has been opened, the record is still sealed in the plastic inner sleeve.
About this copy: This copy of Strange Days is 1967 mono U.S. pressing on the Elektra label.
As the record is still sealed, the disc is presumably new and unplayed.
The cover still has the original shrink wrap and is very close to M-. There’s a small tear on the spine, and trace wear at the right hand corners (see photos.)
The inner sleeve has no rips or tears. The perforated strip is fully intact.
A beautiful copy of an LP that’s hard to find in mono and the only sealed copy we’ve ever seen. This will likely be your final upgrade.
Background: Released in September, 1967, Strange Days was the second album by the Doors and the second of only three of their albums to be released in both stereo and mono.
The mono edition was deleted in mid-1968, and subsequent releases were all in stereo.
The LP reached #3 on the U.S. album charts.
Allmusic.com gave Strange Days a 3 1/2 star review:
Many of the songs on Strange Days had been written around the same time as the ones that appeared on The Doors, and with hindsight one has the sense that the best of the batch had already been cherry-picked for the debut album. For that reason, the band’s second effort isn’t as consistently stunning as their debut, though overall it’s a very successful continuation of the themes of their classic album.
