Offered for sale is a still sealed copy of the 1968 LP Dion by Dion, featuring the single, “Abraham, Martin and John.”
About this copy: This copy of Dion is a sealed U.S. pressing on the Laurie label. It appears to be a later pressing, as it lists three song titles above the name of the artist, and original pressings did not have this. It’s likely a pressing from the 1970s.
The wrap is fully intact with no rips, tears or holes. There are no cutout marks. As the album is sealed, the record is presumably new and unplayed.
A nice copy of a a terrific (and in our opinion, underrated) LP.
Background: Dion was viewed as Dion’s “comeback” album and it included the #4 hit “Abraham, Martin and John,” along with an interesting cover of Jimi Hendrix’ “Purple Haze.”
While the single sold well, the LP did not, peaking at #128 on the U.S. album charts.
Featuring his Top Five comeback single “Abraham, Martin and John,” this folk-rock and blues-flavored effort remains Dion’s most fully realized album. In addition to the impressive anti-war original “He Looks a Lot Like Me,” it contains mature interpretations, arranged both acoustically and with strings, of songs by Fred Neil, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, and Lightnin’ Hopkins.
