Description

Offered for sale is an original Japanese pressing of Stormbringer by Deep Purple, complete with the original obi.

This is the limited edition first pressing version that included a poster.

About this copy: This copy of Stormbringer is a 1974 Japanese pressing on the Warner Brothers label.

The cover is VG+ with slight edge and corner wear and a 1″ (2 cm) split at the top edge.

The obi is M-.  This is the correct obi with the “50,000” on it that mentions the poster.  The “hojyuhyo,” or reorder tag, is attached.

The lyric insert is M-.

The disc is M- on side one and VG++ on side two, with a couple of light inaudible scuffs.  There’s a bit of foxing on the labels.

A nice copy of an album that’s fairly hard to find with the poster.

Background: Released in 1974, Stormbringer was the ninth studio album from Deep Purple, and their second to feature singers David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes.

The album reached #20 in the U.S. and #6 on the UK charts.

Allmusic.com gave Stormbringer this review:

Stormbringer falls short of the excellence of Machine Head and Who Do We Think We Are, but nonetheless boasts some definite classics — including the fiery “Lady Double Dealer,” the ominous title song (a goth metal treasure), the sweaty “High Ball Shooter,” and the melancholy ballad “Soldier of Fortune.”
