Offered for sale is a still sealed copy of the limited edition blue vinyl pressing of the 1978 live album Stage by David Bowie, released in the Netherlands.
Note: This LP was issued in the Netherlands on both blue and yellow vinyl; the blue is most common. As the album is still sealed, the color variation is unknown.
About this copy: This copy of Stage is a 1978 Dutch pressing on the orange RCA label.
As the album is still sealed, the two blue vinyl discs are presumably unplayed.
The wrap is largely intact, though there is a large missing piece in the lower left hand portion of the cover. There is a 3″ (8 cm) split in the wrap at the mouth. There is also a small tear at the lower right hand corner. There is slight wear at these two corners.
There is a hype sticker on the wrap that says “Attention! Limited edition on COLOURED VINYL.”
A beautiful copy of a scarce Bowie LP and the first sealed copy we’ve seen since the album was first released.
Background: Stage was David Bowie’s second live album, and largely covered material from his Station to Station, Low, and Heroes LPs.
The album reached #5 on the UK album charts and #44 in the U.S. and was praised for its sound quality.
The second of two inessential double live albums David Bowie released in the ’70s, 1978’s Stage is a different beast than its 1974 predecessor, David Live. That album captured Bowie in a transitional phase, sliding from glam to stylized soul, while Stage was recorded in the thick of his Berlin phase with producer/collaborator Brian Eno, and Stage is an attempt to translate that sleek, angular, arty studio-bound sound to the live arena. This means not only are Low and Heroes given live treatments, but about half of both Ziggy Stardust and Station to Station are given new arrangements here.
