Description

Offered for sale is a still sealed U.S. clear vinyl copy of Hunky Dory by David Bowie, released on the Ryko label.

This 3-sided LP includes four bonus tracks that were not on the original LP.

About this copy: This copy of Hunky Dory is a 1990 U.S. pressing on the Ryko label.

As the album is still sealed, the records are presumably new and unplayed.

The wrap is fully intact with no rips, tears or holes.

A beautiful copy of a classic David Bowie LP.

Background: In the late 1980s, the small Ryko label earned the right to release David Bowie’s back catalog on compact disc.  The discs, which were well mastered and which included bonus tracks, were well-received by the public, and this inspired Ryko to produce them on vinyl, as well.

The “Ryko Analogue” series didn’t last long, as stores weren’t interested in stocking vinyl LPs at that time, and the David Bowie albums in that short-lived series are quite rare.

This copy of Hunky Dory includes four bonus tracks:

  • Bombers (previously unreleased)
  • The Supermen (alternate version)
  • Quicksand (demo version)
  • The Bewlay Brothers (alternate mix)

Released in 1971, Hunky Dory was the fourth album by David Bowie.

The album reached #3 on the UK charts, and #57 on the U.S. charts.

Allmusic.com gave Hunky Dory a 5 star review:

After the freakish hard rock of The Man Who Sold the World, David Bowie returned to singer/songwriter territory on Hunky Dory. Not only did the album boast more folky songs (“Song for Bob Dylan,” “The Bewlay Brothers”), but he again flirted with Anthony Newley-esque dancehall music (“Kooks,” “Fill Your Heart”), seemingly leaving heavy metal behind. As a result, Hunky Dory is a kaleidoscopic array of pop styles, tied together only by Bowie’s sense of vision: a sweeping, cinematic mélange of high and low art, ambiguous sexuality, kitsch, and class.
