About this copy: This copy of Chris in Person is a 1959 U.S. stereo pressing on the green Atlantic label.
The cover is VG++ and close to M- with very slight corner wear.
The disc is VG++ and close to M- with a couple of faint sleeve scuffs, but no other marks. It’s a very clean record that has had little play.
A beautiful copy of an album that is very hard to find as an original stereo pressing.
Background: Released in 1959, Chris in Person was the ninth album Chris Connor recorded for Atlantic Records.
Recorded at the Village Vanguard with a great quartet (including guest Kenny Burrell on guitar), Chris in Person finds vocal heavyweight Chris Connor showing an even better sense of chops and swing as on her studio dates. She gets off to a great start with the apt “Strike up the Band,” torches her way through a few of her standards (“Lover Come Back to Me,” “Angel Eyes,” “‘Round Midnight”), and shows she can swing in a soul groove with an ebullient cover of Ray Charles’ “Hallelujah I Love Him So.”
