Offered for sale is a still sealed original U.S. copy of Chicago III by Chicago, including the poster.
About this copy: This copy of Chicago III is a 1971 U.S. pressing on the Columbia label.
As the album is still sealed, the records are presumably new and unplayed.
The wrap is largely intact, though there is a large tear at the bottom center of the cover. We’ve secured this with tape to prevent further tearing of the wrap.
There is a hype sticker on the wrap that says in part, “CHICAGO III 2 Record Set – Includes 4-color Poster and Complete Lyrics of Songs.” There is slight wear to the sticker.
The poster is presumably included. See photo for example.
A nice copy of an album that rarely turns up complete or sealed.
Background: Released in January, 1971, Chicago III was the third album by Chicago, and their third consecutive double album.
The album reached #2 on the U.S. album chart and #9 on the UK charts, helped by the Top 40 singles “Free” and “Lowdown.”
Chicago’s third effort, much like the preceding two, was initially issued as a double LP, and is packed with a combination of extended jams as well as progressive and equally challenging pop songs. Their innovative sound was the result of augmenting the powerful rock & roll quartet with a three-piece brass section — the members of whom are all consummate soloists. Once again, the group couples that with material worthy of its formidable skills.
