A beautiful copy of a terrific LP.
Background: Heart of Stone was the second album in Cher’s late-1980’s comeback period. The album reached #10 in the U.S., where it sold 4 million copies, and #7 in the UK.
At the time of the album’s original release, American record companies were phasing out the sales of vinyl LPs. The vinyl pressing of Heart of Stone was rather limited and was only available for a short time.
The singles “Just Like Jesse James” and “Heart of Stone” both reached the U.S. Top 20.
The lady can rock. There is no question about that, and this album is one of several from her catalog that serve as a testament to that fact. Even the opening single, “If I Could Turn Back Time,” has a crunchy texture to it, albeit in a poppy, ’80s Starship sort of arrangement. …This one seems a bit dated in retrospect, with the sound certainly tied to pop/rock of the late ’80s, but the performance and musical integrity, not to mention strong songwriting, really set the album apart as one of Cher’s strongest.
