Description

Offered for sale is a 1980s U.S. pressing of Last Time Around by Buffalo Springfield.

About this copy: This copy of Last Time Around is a later issue (1980s) of an album that was originally issued in 1969.  Where the original pressing had a Unipak cover, this one has a standard gatefold cover.

The cover is VG++, with a bit of wear at the corners.  The disc is close to VG++, but has an inaudible mark through 3 tracks on side 1 and a sleeve scuff on side tw0.  It’s clearly only been played a couple of times.

A nice copy of a terrific LP.

Background:  Last Time Around was the final studio album by Buffalo Springfield, and was released about the time the band was breaking up.  Featuring contributions from new member Jim Messina, the album reached #42 on the U.S. charts.

Allmusic.com gave Last Time Around a 3 star review:

This was in some sense a Buffalo Springfield album in name but not in spirit, as the songwriters sometimes did not even play on cuts written by other members of the band. Neil Young’s relatively slight contribution was a particularly tough blow. He wrote only two of the songs (though he did help Richie Furay write “It’s So Hard to Wait”), both of which were outstanding: the plaintive “I Am a Child” and the bittersweet “On the Way Home” (sung by Furay, not Young, on the record). The rest of the ride was bumpier: Stephen Stills’ material in particular was not as strong as it had been on the first two LPs, though the lovely Latin-flavored “Pretty Girl Why,” with its gorgeous guitar work, is one of the group’s best songs. Furay was developing into a quality songwriter with the orchestrated “The Hour of Not Quite Rain” and his best Springfield contribution, the beautiful ballad “Kind Woman,” which became one of the first country-rock standards.
