Offered for sale is a still sealed U.S. stereo pressing of the 1965 LP Holly in the Hills by Buddy Holly.

As the album is still sealed, the record is presumably new and unplayed.
The wrap is mostly intact, but there is a 1″x 3″ (3 cm x 8 cm) missing piece in the upper left hand corner and a small 1 cm x 2 cm missing piece in the lower right hand corner. There is a punch hole in the upper right hand corner of the cover.
A nice copy of an album that is usually found in poor condition.
Background: Released in 1965, Holly in the Hills was the fourth album containing previously unreleased material to be issued after Holly’s 1959 death.
This album contained early recordings of Holly with his friend Bob Montgomery.
The album reached #13 on the UK album chart but did not chart in the U.S.

On its face, Holly in the Hills was seemingly one of the more artistically dubious Buddy Holly albums to appear posthumously. Built around Holly’s pre-Crickets recordings circa 1955, as part of the duo of Buddy & Bob, the familiar Holly voice is present and easy to appreciate, though he’s sharing the spotlight with Bob Montgomery and doing a repertory that’s steeped thoroughly in country music, complete with fiddle accompaniment (“Baby It’s Love,” “I Gambled My Heart”). Holly was beginning to discover rock & roll and work out a sound of his own, as demonstrated by some of the cuts here, but he was still a country artist and doing a lot of ballads in that idiom as well. …it would be easy to see these Buddy & Bob sides having opened a career in country music for the two of them that could easily have carried them into the 1960s before a very different audience from the one Holly actually ended up finding.
