Background: Boston’s second LP came out sooner than guitarist Tom Scholz would have liked, but it still sold millions of copies and also happens to be a great sounding, well recorded album. While this album was later reissued in Japan as part of their “Mastersound” series, that particular pressing was digitally remastered, this one, which is all analog, is the better-sounding pressing of the two.
Released in August, 1978, Don’t Look Back reached #1 on the U.S. album charts and has sold more than seven million copies to date.
Allmusic.com gave Don’t Look Back a 4 star review:
Boston’s many fans were upset that it took the band two years to follow up its monster debut. When it arrived, the sophomore effort DON’T LOOK BACK was a virtual rewrite of BOSTON. This didn’t stop the masses from snapping up the album, which ultimately racked up sales in the multi-platinum range.
