Background: Released in 1970, Alegria! was the second and final album by Brazil’s Bossa Rio.
Both of their albums were produced by Sergio Mendes, both were well-received by critics, and both are regarded as somehow more “authentically Brazilian” than Mendes’ own work of the period, which tended towards pop.
