Offered for sale is a rare Japan-only 2 LP box set by Bob Dylan entitled Gift Pack Series, complete with all inserts and the original obi.
This box was issued twice, in 1972, with a 1973 calendar, and in 1973, with a 1974 calendar/poster.
About this copy: This copy of Gift Pack Series is an original 1972 Japanese pressing on the CBS label, including the following:
- 2 LPs
- Box
- Original obi
- Lyric booklet
- 2 custom inner sleeves
- 1973 calendar promoting other CBS artists -one for each month
These boxes turn up from time to time, but the calendar is usually missing.
The box is VG++, with slight foxing. The obi is VG++, with slight foxing.
The lyric booklet is M-. The inner sleeves are M-. The calendar is VG++ with slight foxing.
Side one is VG+ with a light fingernail mark through the first four tracks. It’s largely inaudible and only tics a few times. Sides two, three and four are M- with a few spindle marks on the labels, but no marks on the vinyl.
A nice copy of a scarce Dylan box set that is almost never found complete, or in this condition.
Background: The Gift Pack Series was a short-lived set of 2 LP box sets that were issued in late 1972, likely as holiday gifts. All were compilation albums by well-known artists.
