Offered for sale is a scarce first pressing of Blondie’s 1978 LP Parallel Lines, containing the short version of “Heart of Glass.”
Parallel Lines was Blondie’s breakthrough album, and it sold well and got a lot of airplay. Shortly after release, the song Heart of Glass became a hit, particularly in clubs that played the extended “disco version” which was released as a 12″ single. Once the song became a hit, Chrysalis records remastered the album to include the longer, “disco” version of the song. Those versions had a hype sticker on the cover that indicated that the LP included the “Disco Version” of the song.
Offered for sale is an original first pressing of the American issue of the album, which includes the short, 3:54 version of Heart of Glass. The album also includes the original inner sleeve, which contains printed lyrics for all the songs on the album, including the song, Parallel Lines, which was deleted from the album shortly before release. This version of the album was only in print for a few months before being replaced with the version that contained the longer “disco version” of Heart of Glass.
The records is in beautiful, VG++ condition, showing few signs of play with only a few sleeve abrasions and a couple of spindle marks on the label. The cover is VG+ with a bit of wear at the corners and in the top right corner of the front of the cover.
A very nice copy of an album that’s surprisingly hard to find today.
