Offered for sale is an original Japanese pressing of the soundtrack to Yellow Submarine by the Beatles, pressed on red vinyl and including the original obi.
About this copy: This copy of the Yellow Submarine soundtrack is an original Japanese issue, pressed on Everclean red vinyl. This pressing was released in 1969 and including the original obi and lyric insert. The original black paper inner sleeve is included.
The cover is VG+ with a small area scraped at the lower left hand corner. The obi is VG, with a few wrinkles and a repaired tear at the bottom. The “hojyuhyo”, or reorder tag, is still attached to the obi.
The red vinyl record is very close to M-; Side 1 has a faint scuff through “Only a Northern Song” that does not affect play and Side 2 is M-. The record has clearly been played only a couple of times.
A beautiful copy of an album that’s hard to find in either collectible condition or with the original obi.
Background: Yellow Submarine is one of the stranger LPs in the Beatles catalog, as it’s half a Beatles album and half a soundtrack album with orchestrations by George Martin. Each gets one side.
The Beatles side included four new songs along with two that had been previously released. The other side of the album contained all-new material.
In Japan, first pressings of the album were pressed on beautiful “Everclean” red vinyl, while later pressings were issued on black vinyl.
