Offered for sale is a still sealed limited edition white vinyl pressing of the Beatles self-titled 1968 LP, The Beatles, also known as the White Album, complete with poster and four photo inserts.
About this copy: This copy of the White Album is a limited edition pressing from 1978 on white vinyl, pressed on the then-current maroon Capitol label. The album is still sealed; the records are presumably new and unplayed. The poster and four photo inserts are included. There is a hype sticker on the shrink wrap indicating that the album is a white vinyl limited edition.
The wrap is almost fully intact, aside from a tiny 1/4″ tear in the middle of the front cover. Unlike most sealed copies that are found today, this one does not have a promotional hole punched in the cover. There is a tiny bend in one corners (no more than 1/4″ or so)
There is a small dark spot on the cover under one of the breathe holes in the shrink wrap.
A beautiful copy of an increasingly scarce LP.
Background: In 1978, collectors were showing a lot of interest in both picture discs and colored vinyl records, so record companies worldwide issued a number of new and older titles in those formats to satisfy collector demand.
In the United States, Capitol Records pressed three different albums by the Beatles on colored vinyl – The Beatles 1962-1966 on red vinyl, The Beatles 1967-1970 on blue vinyl, and The Beatles, or The White Album on white vinyl.
All three pressings are collectible, though the White Album seems to be the one that attracts the most demand from collectors today. For some reason, the White Album is one of the most sought-out colored vinyl LPs. It’s also the hardest one to find in good condition, as the white cover is easily prone to wear.
