This item has been sold.

Offered for sale is a still sealed limited edition white vinyl U.S. pressing of the Beatles self-titled LP, The Beatles, also known as the White Album, complete with poster and four photo inserts.

Note: This is a promotional copy; Capitol Records marked those with clean punch holes in the upper right hand corner of the cover.

About this copy:  This copy of the White Album is a limited edition U.S. pressing from 1978 on white vinyl, pressed on the then-current maroon Capitol label.

As the album is still sealed, the records are presumably new and unplayed.  The poster and four photo inserts are included.

There is a hype sticker on the shrink wrap indicating that the album is a white vinyl limited edition.

The wrap is mostly intact; there is a tiny tear at the upper part of the back cover (1 cm) and a small break and a gray stain at the lower right hand corner of the front cover.

A nice copy of an increasingly scarce LP, and one we rarely have in stock for very long.

Background: In 1978, collectors were showing a lot of interest in both picture discs and colored vinyl records, so record companies worldwide issued a number of new and older titles in those formats to satisfy collector demand.

In the United States, Capitol Records pressed three different albums by the Beatles on colored vinyl – The Beatles 1962-1966 on red vinyl, The Beatles 1967-1970 on blue vinyl, and The Beatles, or The White Album on white vinyl.

All three pressings are collectible, though the White Album seems to be the one that attracts the most demand from collectors today.  For some reason, the White Album is one of the most sought-out colored vinyl LPs.  It’s also the hardest one to find in good condition, as the white cover is easily prone to wear. gave The Beatles a 5 star review:

Each song on the sprawling double album The Beatles is an entity to itself, as the band touches on anything and everything it can. This makes for a frustratingly scattershot record or a singularly gripping musical experience, depending on your view, but what makes the so-called White Album interesting is its mess. …None of it sounds like it was meant to share album space together, but somehow The Beatles creates its own style and sound through its mess.
