Background: Released in Italy in 1965, The Beatles in Italy became sought out by collectors after John Lennon gave an interview suggesting that he thought there had been a live album issued in Italy in the 1960s.
People assumed that The Beatles in Italy was such an album, as the title might suggest that. In fact, the album is a compilation album of studio tracks issued in that country to commemorate the band’s 1965 performances in Italy.
Though only released in Italy initially, the album was eventually released in Israel, the Netherlands, Spain, and Japan.
