Offered for sale is a still sealed 1960s stereo U.S. pressing of Something New by the Beatles.
We believe that this copy is a 1969 pressing of an album that was originally issued in 1964.

As the album is still sealed, the record is presumably new and unplayed.
The shrink wrap is fully intact with no rips, tears, or holes, aside from a clean punch hole in the upper right hand corner indicating that this copy was intended for promotional use. There are a couple of “breathe holes” in the shrink wrap.
We believe this copy was issued in 1969. The back cover has a small number “6” in the lower right hand corner, which indicates a 1960s pressing from Capitol’s Los Angeles, California pressing plant.
The cover does not have the “needle damage” disclaimer on the back cover that was found on first pressings. In addition, promotional copies of earlier pressings had either the word “FREE” or “PROMO” punched in the cover with a series of small holes, rather than a single large punch hole like the one on this LP.
The label variation is unknown, but it’s likely either a rainbow label pressing with the “subsidiary” print on the perimeter, or a green label pressing (see photo for examples.)
Still, it’s a sealed, new, unplayed 1960s U.S. Beatles LP, and those have become quite scarce in recent years.
Background: Something New was the third Beatles album to be released by Capitol in 1964, and the album was prepared exclusively for the American market, though it was later issued in other countries.
The album reached #2 on the American albums chart, helped by the singles “And I Love Her” and “Matchbox.”
Allmusic.com gave Something New a 3 1/2 star review:
It was the summer of 1964, and it had been a whole three months (!!!) since a new Beatles album from Capitol Records –… And so Something New was released about a month after UA’s (A Hard Day’s Night) soundtrack, and if it wasn’t as strong as the two preceding U.S. albums, in any other context and circumstance it would have been a contender for best rock & roll album of the year. Grouped alongside the band’s hard-rocking, first-rate covers of Carl Perkins’ “Matchbox” and Larry Williams’ “Slow Down,” and topped out with their German-language rendition of “I Want to Hold Your Hand” (“Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand”), which probably couldn’t fit anywhere else, the Hard Day’s Night material sounded fine, and few fans seemed to mind paying twice for the songs that overlapped between the two albums.
