Offered for sale is a limited edition gray/pink marbled vinyl pressing of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band by the Beatles, issued in Canada in 1978.
About this copy: This copy of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band is a limited edition Canadian-only release.
The cover is M- and is still in the original shrink wrap. The cutout insert is included.
Also included is a hype sticker that says “Limited Edition Marble Vinyl The Official Sgt. Pepper.” This sticker appears to have come from a different copy of the LP, as it still has some shrink wrap attached to it and it’s not attached to the cover of this LP.
The marbled vinyl disc is M- and shows no signs of play.
A beautiful copy of a fairly scarce colored vinyl Beatles LP.
Background: There’s not much point in writing about Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band; entire books have been written about the album. It’s not only the best-known album of the Beatles’ catalog, but it’s regarded as one of the most influential albums ever released.
In 1978, collectors were showing a lot of interest in colored vinyl LPs, and record companies around the world released a number of then-new and older titles on colored vinyl as limited edition pressings.
While The Beatles 1962-1966, The Beatles 1967-1970, and The Beatles were released on colored vinyl in the United States at that time, there were two titles released by Capitol on colored vinyl only in Canada – Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, on gray marbled vinyl, and Love Songs, which was pressed on yellow vinyl.
Neither album was widely imported at the time, and they’re both somewhat hard to find today.
