Offered for sale is a Japanese red vinyl first pressing of Revolver by the Beatles, including the original obi.
About this copy: This copy of Revolver is a 1966 Japanese pressing on the Odeon label, pressed on “Everclean” red vinyl.
This version is the same as the UK version of the album, with 14 tracks.
The cover is VG+, with slight discoloration from age and slight wear at the upper left hand corner. This is a thick cover, unlike most 1960s Japanese covers, which were pressed from ultra-thin posterboard.
The rare original obi is VG, with some creases and some foxing on the back. The “hojyuhyo,” (reorder tag), has been remvoed. There is a repaired 1″ (2 cm) split at the top edge.
Lyric insert is VG+, with slight foxing. The original envelope-style inner sleeve is VG , with a few wrinkles, but no tears.
The red vinyl disc is M- with a couple of spindle marks on the labels, but no marks on the vinyl. It’s a clean disc that has clearly only been played a couple of times.
A beautiful copy of a terrific record that is quite hard to find as a complete first pressing.
Background: Revolver, released in August, 1966, was the seventh studio album by the Beatles. The album reached #1 in the U.S. and UK and has never gone out of print.
All the rules fell by the wayside with Revolver, as the Beatles began exploring new sonic territory, lyrical subjects, and styles of composition. … The biggest miracle of Revolver may be that the Beatles covered so much new stylistic ground and executed it perfectly on one record, or it may be that all of it holds together perfectly. Either way, its daring sonic adventures and consistently stunning songcraft set the standard for what pop/rock could achieve. Even after Sgt. Pepper, Revolver stands as the ultimate modern pop album and it’s still as emulated as it was upon its original release.
