Offered for sale is a rare yellow and brown marbled vinyl pressing of Magical Mystery Tour by the Beatles, issued in Great Britain in 1978.
These pressings were intended to be all yellow in color, but this copy has quite a bit of brown swirls in it. This may have been a mistake or it may have been done by a pressing plant employee for their own use.
About this copy: The copy of Magical Mystery Tour offered for sale is a 1978 UK copy on the Parlophone label, pressed exclusively for export to the United States and pressed on beautiful yellow vinyl with brown swirls.
The cover is M-. The booklet is included and is still firmly attached, which is unusual for this title, as the booklets often work loose.
The record is M-, and looks as though it may even be unplayed.
A nice copy of a hard to find Beatles LP and only one we’ve ever seen like this.
Background: In 1978, collectors seemed to go crazy for both colored vinyl and picture discs, and record companies in both the United States and Europe pressed a number of limited edition titles to keep them happy.
For the Beatles, Parlophone Records in Britain pressed four titles on colored vinyl, but made them for export only: Let It Be (white), Abbey Road (green), the White Album (white) and Magical Mystery Tour (yellow.) Most of those discs, and possibly all of them, were shipped to the United States.
All four are quite hard to find today, as they sold in relatively small numbers when new.
