Description

Offered for sale is a still sealed original U.S. pressing of Let It Be by the Beatles, complete with gatefold cover.

About this copy: This copy of Let It Be is a still sealed original U.S. copy, complete with the original gatefold cover that was dropped for later reissue pressings.

The wrap is almost fully intact with no rips or tears, aside from a cut corner in the upper left hand corner.  The corner cut is a relatively small one.  The lower left hand corner is slightly “balding.”  There is a price sticker on the shrink wrap (not shown in photo.)

As the album is sealed, the record is presumably new and unplayed.

A nice copy of an album that’s getting quite hard to find as a sealed copy.

Background:  Let It Be was the final studio album by the Beatles, released in May, 1970.  As the album was technically a soundtrack album to the film of the same name, distribution of the album was handled by ABCKO, the company that belonged to Beatles manager Allen Klein, rather than Capitol Records.

When Apple Records was dissolved in 1975, Let It Be became the only Beatles studio album to go out of print, and it was actually out of print for several years in the late 1970s and occasionally turned up for sale in discount bins.  This is one of those copies.

Allmusic.com gave Let It Be a 4 1/2 star review:

The only Beatles album to occasion negative, even hostile reviews, there are few other rock records as controversial as Let It Be.   … All that said, the album is on the whole underrated, even discounting the fact that a sub-standard Beatles record is better than almost any other group’s best work. …As flawed and bumpy as it is, it’s an album well worth having, as when the Beatles were in top form here, they were as good as ever.
