Offered for sale is a red vinyl Japanese pressing of the U.S. version of Help! by the Beatles, including the original obi.
Earlier Japanese pressings had the same songs as the UK release. This one has the same cover and songs as the U.S version of the album.
About this copy: This copy of Help! is an original 1970 pressing on the Apple label, pressed on “Everclean” red vinyl.
This was the first Japanese pressing of the U.S. version of the album, which had been released in the U.S. in 1965.
The gatefold cover is VG++, with faint general wear.
The obi is VG+, with some creases in the apple, and moderate foxing. The “hojyuhyo,” or reorder tag, is still attached.
The original black inner sleeve is included with no splits. The lyric insert is VG++, with slight fading, but no tears or writing.
The red vinyl disc is M- with a very faint scuff on side one. There are one or two spindle marks on the labels. Clean disc!
A nice copy of a rare Beatles LP. This is the first copy we’ve ever had for sale of this version of the album.
Background: While the UK version of the Help! LP was a Beatles album with 14 songs by the band, the U.S. version was a true soundtrack album, with 7 Beatles songs and the remainder instrumental tracks that had appeared in the film, conducted by Ken Thorne.
The album, released in the U.S. in August of 1965, reached #1 on the American album charts.
