Offered for sale is a complete still sealed set of all three commercially released U.S. Ed Rudy Beatles interview albums, released in 1964 and 1965, with both cover variations of each of the first two LPs. There are five albums in the set.
These LPs were acquired from someone who purchased them directly from the estate of Ed Rudy.
(The 1964 Ed Rudy Beatlemania Tour Coverage LP, released only as a promotional item, is not included in this set.)
This set consists of five still sealed LPs, made up of three different albums:
- The American Tour With Ed Rudy (#2) (back cover with photo showing Ed Rudy facing the camera)
- The American Tour With Ed Rudy (#2) (back cover photo showing Ed Rudy facing to the side)
- It’s Here Luv: The American Tour With Ed Rudy (#3) rare withdrawn cover with “Beatles” in large red print on front
- It’s Here Luv: The American Tour With Ed Rudy (#3) second cover without “Beatles” in large red print on front
- The Great American Tour 1965 Live Beatlemania Concert
All five titles are still sealed original U.S. mono copies. These came from the estate of Ed Rudy, who recorded, pressed and sold these albums when new in the 1960s. These are thick, original pressings, and not the later issues or counterfeits.
The wrap on all five LPs is fully intact, with no rips, tears, or holes. The two copies of The American Tour With Ed Rudy include a copy of Teen Talk magazine and a card explaining the magazine’s contents.
A beautiful, nearly perfect set of rare Beatles LPs that are hard to find individually, let alone as a set. We’ve had the American Tour With Ed Rudy (#2) LP a couple of times in the past, but this is the first time we’ve even seen original copies of the others.
Background: Journalist Ed Rudy accompanied (or followed; sources differ) the Beatles on their 1964 and 1965 tours of the United States and released several privately-pressed albums containing recordings of him interviewing the band.
The first of the three albums, The American Tour With Ed Rudy, sold fairly well. The later two albums sold poorly and are quite rare.
The American Tour With Ed Rudy – The first album, The American Tour With Ed Rudy, also known as “Ed Rudy #2,” as the album says “Documentary II” on the cover, was released in 1964 and original pressings included a copy of Teen Talk magazine, which is almost always missing from used copies of the LP.
This LP was issued with two different back covers – one with a photo of Ed Rudy facing the camera, and one with Ed Rudy facing sideways. This set includes both versions; one copy of each is included.
It’s Here Luv!!! Ed Rudy With New U.S. Tour – This LP features a news documentary talking about the Beatles’ 1965 U.S. tour.
This LP was issued with two different front covers. The rare first version shows the word “BEATLES” in large red print above the band photo. This cover was withdrawn shortly after release and the second cover does not include this print. This set includes both versions; one copy of each is included.
The Great American Tour 1965 Live Beatlemania Concert – This odd album features interviews with people attending a Beatles concert, along with a “recreation” of a Beatles concert, with songs performed by a group called the Liverpool Lads mixed with actual crowd sounds and announcements from an actual Beatles concert.
