Offered for sale is a still sealed U.S. stereo copy of Beatles VI by the Beatles.

This copy has a number 9 on the back cover, indicating it is a 1969/1970 pressing from Capitol’s Jacksonville, Illinois pressing plant.

About this copy: This copy of Beatles VI is a U.S. pressing on the Capitol label.

As the album is still sealed, the record is presumably new and unplayed.

The wrap is fully intact with no rips, tears, or holes.  There is a tiny stain on the bottom edge of the back cover.

The label variation is unknown, but most copies of this album with the number 9 on the back cover have green Capitol labels.  A few have been found with black Capitol labels with the “A subsidiary of Capitol Industries, Inc.” on the label.

The record feels somewhat thin, so it’s likely a green label pressing. (see photo for example.)

A nearly perfect copy of a scarce early Beatles LP.

Background: Released in 1965, Beatles VI was the seventh U.S. album by the Beatles, compiled from tracks used on singles and the UK Beatles for Sale and the then-unreleased UK Help! LPs.

The album reached #1 on the U.S. album charts. gave Beatles VI a 3 1/2 star review:

Six months had elapsed since the release of Beatles ’65 in America, and the powers that were at Capitol Records recognized that some new product was needed, especially as the group was about to tour the United States. The result was Beatles VI, using the remaining tracks off of the British-released Beatles for Sale album (going all the way back to the fall of the previous year), among them that album’s highlight, a cover of Buddy Holly’s “Words of Love,” and four new songs, two of them from the second side of the soon-to-be-released U.K. Help! album. The result was as much of a mish-mash as any album of Beatles songs ever assembled by Capitol Records, although — thanks to the quality of the performances and the songs — it was still eminently high-quality material, song-for-song, and outclassed virtually all of the competition. And as long as the group’s singles held up in quality, albums like this would continue to scale the top of the charts with ease.
