Beatles – Beatles Forever complete Japan 4 LP box with two posters

A complete copy of the rare Japan-only box set Beatles Forever by the Beatles, including four discs, two posters, and more.

This item has been sold.

Offered for sale is a rare Japan-only 4 LP box set entitled Beatles Forever, released in 1975.

This box includes original black vinyl issues of The Beatles 1962-1966 and The Beatles 1967-1970, along with several additional inserts and two posters.

About this copy: This copy of Beatles Forever is an original 1975 issue on the Apple label.  The box has no obi, though the albums inside each have one.  We believe this is how it was originally packaged.

Contents of the box set:

  • The Beatles 1962-1966 2 LP set with gatefold cover and obi
  • The Beatles 1967-1970 2 LP set with gatefold cover and obi
  • 12 page lyric booklet for the 1962-1966 set
  • 22 page lyric booklet for the 1967-1970 set
  • 8 page 1962-1966 Beatles Japanese discography booklet
  • 12 page 1967-1970 Beatles Japanese discography booklet
  • 16 page Music is From Me to You booklet listing other non-Beatles albums for sale by EMI
  • Custom inner sleeves for all four discs
  • Two posters

The Beatles 1962-1966 – The cover is M- with trace corner wear.  The obi is M-.

The lyric booklet is VG+, with a few wrinkles, but no tears. The custom inner sleeves are M- with no splits.

The two discs are M- and look unplayed.

The Beatles 1967-1970 – The cover is VG+ with a bit of corner wear.  The obi is M-.

The lyric booklet is VG+, with a few wrinkles, but no tears. The custom inner sleeves are M- with no splits.

The two discs are M-.  There are a couple of spindle marks on the side two label, suggesting that side one got a couple of plays.  The other three sides look unplayed.

The Music is From Me to You booklet is M-.  The two discography booklets are M-.

One poster is M-, with no tears or holes.  The other poster is VG++, with slight wear at the folds, but no tears or holes.

The box is VG+, with slight foxing and a couple of splits at the hinge.  This is due to the design of the box; we doubt there’s a single example of this box out there without these splits.

A beautiful example of a rare Beatles item and the first copy we’ve ever seen or had for sale.

Background: We don’t know a whole lot about the Beatles Forever box set, but it appears that it was put together in 1975, likely as a special package to be sold during the Christmas holiday season.

We don’t know if this box set was sold only through certain retailers or if it was available everywhere.   We’ve also seen it described as a “promo,” but there’s no indication that the box set was a promotional item, as the records inside are stock copies.

The box only says The Beatles Forever on the spine, with an Apple records logo.

The back cover says “Rock & Soul Now ’75” with an EMI Records logo, but the box itself has no catalog number.

A very unusual item.
