Offered for sale is a still sealed copy of the awkwardly-titled Chicago Beatles Souvenir Record picture disc LP, available only at the 4th Annual Beatles Convention held in Chicago, Illinois on August 8-9, 1980.
This LP contains live performances from the Beatles’ 1965 concert at Shea Stadium in New York and features a photo of the Yesterday and Today “Butcher Cover” on side one of the disc.
About this copy: This copy of Chicago Beatles Souvenir Record is an original 1980 pressing. Production information is unknown; there is no record company information on the disc and the cover is a generic die-cut black cover with no printing.
As the album is still sealed, the record is presumably new and unplayed.
The wrap is fully intact, with no rips, tears, or holes. A couple of the corners are slightly “pushed.”
A nice copy of a rare Beatles picture disc and only the second copy we’ve ever had for sale.
Background: Chicago Beatles Souvenir Record was one of the earliest unauthorized Beatles picture discs, being issued as a souvenir of the 4th Annual Beatles Convention held in Chicago, Illinois on August 8-9, 1980.
We do not know if this item was a giveaway item or if it was sold as a souvenir. We do know that they didn’t press very many of them and that they rarely turn up for sale.
The material on the LP is taken from the Beatles’ August 15, 1965 performance at Shea Stadium in New York.
