Offered for sale is a scarce mono blue vinyl white label promotional copy of The Second Barbra Streisand Album, by Barbra Streisand.
The Second Barbra Streisand Album was released in August, 1963, just six months after her self-titled debut. The album reached #2 on the Billboard album charts and was certified gold by the RIAA for sales of more then 500,000 copies.
While Columbia Records released hundreds of promotional singles on colored vinyl during the 1960s, including titles by artists across the musical spectrum from easy listening to hard rock, the label was far more conservative in their use of colored vinyl for albums.
During the decade, Columbia released only about 15 titles on colored vinyl as promotional items, and all of them were in the easy listening vein.
There were two Barbra Streisand titles issued on colored vinyl during the 1960s – The Second Barbra Streisand Album, on blue vinyl, and 1967’s Color Me Barbra, which was pressed on red vinyl. The earlier blue vinyl title is by far the harder of the two to find today.
You can listen to the album’s opening cut, “Any Place I Hang My Hat is Home”, here:
About this copy: This copy of The Second Barbra Streisand Album is an original mono white label promotional copy, pressed on blue vinyl.
The cover is VG, with slight ring wear and a couple of dented corners. There are no tears, rips or holes. This copy includes a timing strip on the cover, and the strip has no marks or writing on it.
The blue vinyl disc is M-. There are a couple of very faint sleeve scuffs on side one, but overall, the disc appears to have only been played a couple of times. It’s the cleanest disc we’ve ever seen on a copy of this LP.
A beautiful copy of a terrific record.
