About this copy: This copy of Moon River is an original 1962 U.S. stereo pressing on the Columbia labels, with “360° Sound Stereo” in black at the bottom of the label.
As the record is still sealed in the plastic inner sleeve, the disc is presumably new and unplayed.
The cover is VG++ with very light general wear.
The perforated seal on the inner sleeve is fully intact and the sleeve has no rips or tears.
A nice copy of a classic pop LP.
Background: Released in 1962, Moon River & Other Great Movie Themes was the ninth album by Andy Williams.
The album reached #3 on the U.S. album chart.
The singles chart hit versions of composer Henry Mancini and lyricist Johnny Mercer’s “Moon River,” the theme song for the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s, were by Jerry Butler and by Mancini himself. But Andy Williams made his own claim to the song by using it as the title to this LP of movie themes, which, not coincidentally, was released in the week before Williams was scheduled to sing “Moon River” at the 1962 Academy Awards ceremony. He does a masterful version with the song, and also does well with the rest of the songs…. Notwithstanding the earlier hit single versions by others, “Moon River” became Williams’ signature song for the rest of his career.)
