A scarce mono promo-only LP by the American Breed titled Pumpkin, Powder, Scarlet & Green

Offered for sale is a scarce mono copy of the American Breed’s 1968 LP, Pumpkin, Powder, Scarlet & Green, released only as a promotional item.

While best remembered for their 1967 #5 hit, “Bend Me, Shape Me”, but they actually had seven singles reach the American charts between 1967 and 1969.  This LP, 1968’s Pumpkin, Powder, Scarlet & Green, had two songs reach the lower parts of the charts – “Ready, Willing and Able” and “Anyway That You Want Me.”

Here’s a video of the latter track:

About this record:  This copy of Pumpkin, Powder, Scarlet & Green is a promotional copy, sent to radio stations to promote airplay.  While all copies sent to the stores were in stereo, some promo copies, including this one, were pressed in mono to accommodate AM radio.
The cover is a standard stereo cover with a sticker attached that says “MONAURAL” and there is a second sticker indicating that the record is a promotional copy.   The cover is VG+, with light wear at the edges.  There is a repaired 3″ split at the top of the cover.
The disc has a stock label, but has a mono catalog number and does not say “stereo” on it as the copies shipped to the stores did.  The disc is VG++, with just a couple of scuffs from having been removed from the paper sleeve.
