Description

Offered for sale is a Japanese pressing of Past, Present & Future, the fifth album by Al Stewart, including the original obi.

This LP has a different cover from the U.S. release.

About this copy: This copy of Past, Present & Future is a 1979 Japanese pressing on the Epic label of an album that was originally released in 1973.

The cover is VG++ with slight edge and corner wear.  The obi is VG++ with a very tiny (0.2 cm) tear at the top edge.  The lyric insert is M-.  The disc is M- with a couple of spindle marks on the labels, but no marks on the vinyl.  Clean disc!

A nice (and nice-sounding) copy of a pretty good album.

Background: Released in 1973 in the UK and 1974 in the U.S., Past, Present & Future was the fifth album by Al Stewart.

The album reached #133 on the U.S. album charts, but did not chart in the UK.  The album did get a lot of airplay on FM radio in the United States.

Allmusic.com gave Past, Present & Future a 3 star review:

As good as portions of it were, Orange was essentially a transitional effort, the necessary bridge to Past, Present & Future, the record where Al Stewart truly begins to discover his voice. This is largely through his decision to indulge his fascination with history and construct a concept album that begins with “Old Admirals” and ends with “Nostradamus” and his predictions for the future….Now, the key was to find the same sense of purpose in record-making — he didn’t quite get it here, but he would the next time around.
