A nice copy of a rare 10cc-related item. This came out of our own collection and is the only copy of this album we’ve ever seen.
Background: Released in 1968 after he’d had some success writing songs for other people but before he’d had any success on his own, The Graham Gouldman Thing was the first solo album by Graham Gouldman, later a member of 10cc.
On this LP, Gouldman performs songs he’d written that were best known as hits for other artists.
Allmusic.com gave The Graham Gouldman Thing a 4 1/2 star review:
Gouldman issued this solo album in 1968, featuring his own versions of the hits “For Your Love,” “Bus Stop,” and “No Milk Today” with eight other original tunes. The album blends pensive, acoustic-guitar driven compositions with light orchestral arrangements. It’s a pleasant record, but ultimately does not measure up to the monster hit covers of his tunes.
