Porcupine Tree – Voyage 34 sealed UK white vinyl 2 EP set

porcupine tree - voyage 34 white vinyl

Offered for sale is a still sealed white vinyl numbered limited edition UK pressing of the double EP Voyage 34 by Porcupine Tree, issued in 2010 by Kscope Records.

About this copy: This copy of Voyage 34 is a still sealed white vinyl double 12″ EP pressing, issued in 2010.  This copy is number 756 of 2000 copies.

We call it an EP: it actually runs some 70 minutes across four sides.

As the album is still sealed, the records are presumably new and unplayed.

A beautiful copy of a terrific set.

Background: Voyage 34 was recorded in the early 1990s, and the track was recorded for their Up the Downstair album but was instead released (in edited form) as a single.

In 2010, Kscope released an expanded version as a 2 LP set, pressed on white vinyl.

Allmusic.com gave Voyage 34 this review:

Voyage 34, originally a two-volume EP series from 1992-1993, was expanded into “The Complete Trip” after Steven Wilson remixed and added production for its eventual re-release seven years later. Documenting the ill effects of an acid trip by a frequent user (the first 33 were fine), the four-phase work begins with a straight-laced narrator explaining the events leading up to the trip, with straight-ahead (though slightly exploratory) guitar work by Wilson over a mid-tempo drum section.

Porcupine Tree – The Incident sealed numbered 2009 Dutch 2 LP set

porcupine tree - the incident lp

Offered for sale is a still sealed numbered limited edition Dutch pressing of The Incident by Porcupine Tree, including a 48 page book that was not included in standard editions of the album.

About this copy: This copy of The Incident is a 2009 Dutch pressing on the Tonefloat label.

This copy is number 1631 of 2000 copies that contained a 48 page book.

As the album is sealed, the two 180 gram records are presumably new and unplayed.

The shrink wrap is fully intact with no rips, tears or holes.

A beautiful copy of a terrific LP.

Background: Released in 2009, The Incident was the final studio album by Porcupine Tree.  The album was the band’s highest charting album ever, reaching #23 in the UK and #25 in the U.S.

Allmusic.com gave The Incident a 3 1/2 star review:

Set up similarly to Rush’s 1978 classic, Hemispheres, The Incident is comprised of a single long song — the title track — that features many different movements (which would have taken up the entire side one back in the good ol’ days of vinyl), as well as a handful of shorter compositions that close the album. The aforementioned title track will certainly be the talk of the album, as it manages to incorporate bombast and melody (the sixth movement, which shares the album’s title), rock (“Octane Twisted”), Yes’ folky moments (“The Seance”), and Tool-like grooves (“Circle of Manias”), before it all gently floats away on a cloud of fairy dust (“I Drive the Hearse”). That said, unlike early proggers who favored meandering instrumental doodling over succinct songwriting, Porcupine Tree always favor the importance of memorable songs over flashy solos, which certainly makes the group one of the top modern-day prog rock bands.

Porcupine Tree – Recordings still sealed 2010 UK 2 LP set

porcupine tree - recordings LP

Offered for sale is a still sealed copy of the limited edition UK double LP Recordings by Porcupine Tree.

About this copy: This copy of Recordings is a sealed 2 LP set on the UK Kscope label.  This was a limited edition of 2000 copies, with discs pressed on 180 gram vinyl.

The wrap is fully intact with no rips, tears or holes.  The LPs are presumably new and unplayed.

A beautiful copy of a terrific LP.

Background: Recordings was a compilation album of unreleased tracks and B-sides of singles from the Stupid Dream and Lightbulb Sun recording sessions.

Originally released on compact disc in 2001, the album was released on vinyl by Kscope Records in the UK in 2011 as a limited edition of 2000 copies.

Allmusic.com gave Recordings a 3 star review:

Released as a semi stopgap collection in mid-2001 during a period of general Porcupine Tree inactivity, outside of some concert appearances here and there, Recordings compiles the various B-sides and extra tracks from singles taken from Stupid Dream and Lightbulb Sun, adding a couple of unreleased goodies as well. It’s obviously for the hardcore fans more than anyone else — those wanting an introduction to the band will find it of interest but not the best place to start. Those hardcore fans, though, will find it a very enjoyable release, with the previously unavailable songs of definite interest.

Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) – Insurgentes sealed 2009 UK 2 LP set

Offered for sale is a still sealed UK pressing of the 2009 2 LP set Insurgentes by Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree.

About this copy: This copy of Insurgentes is a sealed original UK pressing on the Kscope label.

As the album is sealed, the discs are presumably new and unplayed.

The wrap is fully intact with no rips or tears.

A nice copy of a terrific LP.

Background: Insurgentes was the first solo album by Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree.  The album reached #116 on the UK charts but did not chart in the U.S.

Allmusic.com gave Insurgentes a 4 star review:

It caused a stir when it was announced: Steven Wilson (of Porcupine Tree and No-Man fame) was to release his first-ever full-length solo album. The first question to pop up was: why? After a couple decades of activity under his belt, and two handfuls of bands and projects past and present (including several solo outfits, like Bass Communion), why would he release an album under his own name, and what would that album be like? Well, as it turned out, Insurgentes is basically a Porcupine Tree album in which Wilson wrote all the songs and made all the decisions, including the one to not include all current members of Porcupine Tree in the project. Is that a problem, fans might ask? Not at all. In fact, Insurgentes is an excellent slab of progressive-tinged alternative rock, and a logical next step from Fear of a Blank Planet, PT’s last album at this point.

Blackfield (Porcupine Tree) – Welcome to My DNA sealed 2011 UK LP

blackfield - welcome to my dna lp

Offered for sale is a still sealed numbered limited edition UK pressing of Welcome to My DNA by Blackfield, featuring Aviv Geffen and Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree.

About this copy: This copy of Welcome to My DNAis a still sealed numbered (488/2000) UK pressing on 180 gram vinyl, issued in 2011 on the Kscope label.  This was the first vinyl release of this LP

As the album is sealed, the records are presumably new and unplayed.

The wrap is fully intact, with no rips, tears or holes.  There is a sticker on the back cover indicating that this copy is number 488 of 2000 copies.

A beautiful copy of a terrific LP.

Background: Welcome to My DNA, released in 2011, was the third of several collaborations between Israeli singer Aviv Geffen and Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree.

Allmusic.com gave Welcome to My DNAa 3 1/2 star review:

On Welcome to My DNA, their third studio album, Aviv Geffen and Steven Wilson of Blackfield continue to pursue their neo-progressive Pink Floyd-meets-Tears for Fears sound, overlaying it with doom-ridden imagery. The Pink Floyd influence is overt in the slow-paced soundscapes and echoey vocals, though at times Blackfield pick up the pace and even rock a bit, notably on “Blood,” which has a Middle Eastern rhythm at times. … The album is, thus, something of a downer, but the music aims toward a majestic simplicity that it sometimes achieves.

Porcupine Tree – Lightbulb Sun sealed white vinyl 2 LP set

porcupine tree- lightbulb sun white vinyl lp

Offered for sale is a numbered, limited edition numbered white marbled vinyl pressing of the 2 LP set Lightbulb Sun by Porcupine Tree, issued in 2008 on Tonefloat records.   This was the first pressing of this album on vinyl.

About this copy: This copy of Lightbulb Sun is the original 2008 numbered limited edition white marbled vinyl pressing of an LP that was originally released in 2000.  While the album was released on compact disc in 2000, the album was not commercially released on vinyl until 2008.

This set was pressed on both black and white marbled vinyl; the colored vinyl vinyl editions were a numbered limited edition and sold out as preorders.

This copy is number 311 of 1000 copies, as indicated on the hype sticker attached to the shrink wrap.

The wrap is fully intact except for a small break in the lower right hand corner.  The upper right hand corner has a small bend.

A beautiful copy of a terrific album.

Background: Lightbulb Sun, released in 2000, was the fifth studio album by Porcupine Tree.  The album reached #161 on the UK charts, but did not chart in the U.S.

Allmusic.com gave Lightbulb Sun a 4 star review:

Some older fans looked askance at Lightbulb Sun, feeling it was verging on overt commercialism (and admittedly, the near power ballad solo on “Where We Would Be” is a bit odd!). Then again, given Wilson’s own explorations of avant-garde pop with No-Man, who’s to say why a slightly more radio-friendly stance can’t work? “Shesmovedon” may have been a single, but there’s no question who wrote and performed it — the elegant cascade of backing vocals on the chorus shows that much. Certainly Wilson hasn’t turned into Max Martin or anything — it’s still very much Porcupine Tree, in its lyrical turns of phrase and general sense of exploration.

Porcupine Tree – Lightbulb Sun sealed clear vinyl 2 LP set

porcupine tree - lightbulb sun clear vinyl 2 lp

Offered for sale is a limited edition clear vinyl pressing of the 2 LP set Lightbulb Sun by Porcupine Tree, issued in 2018 on Kscope records.

About this copy: This copy of Lightbulb Sun is a 2018 clear vinyl limited edition pressing of an LP that was originally released in 2000.

This set was pressed on both black and clear vinyl; the clear vinyl editions were limited and sold out as preorders.

This LP is new and unplayed; the album was not sealed at the factory, but was instead shipped in a resealable bag.  We received this copy directly from the record company and haven’t opened it.

Neil Diamond – Just For You sealed stereo 1967 LP

neil diamond just for you lp

Offered for sale is a still sealed stereo copy of the 1967 LP Just for You by Neil Diamond.

About this copy: This copy of Just for You is as nice a copy as you’d ever hope to find.  It’s a sealed original 1967 stereo pressing and the record is presumably new and unplayed.

The shrink wrap is tight and fully intact except for a tiny (1/8″ or so) break at the lower left corner.  There are a couple of very small corner dents.

There are no rips or tears in the wrap, and surprisingly, no punch holes, saw marks, cut corners or any other cutout marks.

A beautiful copy of a terrific album and the only sealed copy we’ve ever seen.

Background: Just for You, released in August, 1967, was Neil Diamond’s second album and his final studio album for Bang Records.

While the album only reached #80 on the U.S. album charts, every single song on the LP was released as either an A or B side of a single, making the songs on this album some of Diamond’s best-known songs.

Allmusic.com gave Just for You a 3 1/2 star review:

Neil Diamond was on the cusp of discovering a new genre with his second album, which perfectly straddled early- and mid-’60s Brill Building teen pop and the as-yet-unidentified (and unnamed) singer/songwriter genre. The production is as smooth and crisp (and solidly commercial) as anything ever to come from the renowned hit factory at 49th and Broadway by way of the Monkees, Little Eva, the Raindrops, et al. But unlike his debut LP, this time out every song (including two carried over from his debut) is a Diamond original, and his voice and delivery are a lot more sophisticated…

Los Bravos – Black is Black sealed 1966 U.S. mono LP

los bravos - black is black lp

Offered for sale is a still sealed original mono copy of the 1966 LP Black is Black by Los Bravos.

About this copy: This copy is a 1966 U.S. mono pressing on the Press label.

As the album is still sealed, the record is presumably new and unplayed.

The thick shrink wrap is fully intact with no rips, tears or holes.

It’s as nice a copy as you’ll ever find and will likely be your final upgrade.

Background: “Black is Black” was the debut single of Spanish band Los Bravos, and it reached #2 on the UK single charts and #4 in the U.S.  They were the first Spanish group to have a hit on the U.S. charts.

The album didn’t sell as well as the single, peaking at #93 on the U.S. album chart.  The follow-up album, Bring a Little Lovin’, didn’t chart at all.

While the original 1966 Black is Black LP was released in both mono and stereo, as was the custom of the time, the “stereo” pressings were actually electronically reprocessed stereo, aka “fake stereo,” making the mono version the more desirable pressing.  It’s also harder to find, as the mono version was deleted by early 1968, leaving only the rechanneled stereo versions on the market.  The mono is quite hard to find in comparison to the more common fake stereo pressings.

Allmusic.com gave Black is Black a 4 1/2 star review:

Los Bravos formed in 1966…The result of this union of talent and proven production skills produced the band’s first single, the rhythm-driven “Black Is Black,” that same year. It shot up the charts to number two in the U.K. and on August 10, 1966, it charted on Billboard and CashBox. Soon the band enjoyed moderate to major success around the world. In addition to the band’s big hit, this CD reissue of Black Is Black features the group’s U.K. follow-up, “I Don’t Care,” which recalls the Walker Brothers with its similar vocal/horn-laden arrangement — as well as a handful of smartly produced, upbeat British Invasion-style pop numbers (Los Bravos were also influenced by black American soul and R&B acts, especially those on Motown).
