Allmusic.com gave Live Killers a 3 star review:

(Live Killers)… is an excellent document of Queen at the height of their ’70s arena rock powers. Including selections from their debut, 1973’s Queen, up until 1978’s Jazz, the album is a solid mix of early hits and forgotten album tracks, all given new life in the concert setting while the zealous crowd often sings along. A different, more up-tempo version of “We Will Rock You” opens the album, starting things off in grand style. Other hard rock highlights soon follow, such as “Keep Yourself Alive,” “Don’t Stop Me Now,” “Now I’m Here,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Spread Your Wings,” “Brighton Rock” (complete with an outstanding Brian May guitar solo), and a medley that contains such tracks as “Killer Queen” and “Bicycle Race,” among others.

A beautiful copy of a terrific record and the white vinyl pressing we’ve had for sale in several years.

Background:  A Night at the Opera was the fourth album by Queen and is likely their best-known LP.  Released in 1975, the album reached #1 in the UK and #4 in the U.S., where it has sold more than three million copies.

Allmusic.com gave A Night at the Opera a 5 star review:

Queen were straining at the boundaries of hard rock and heavy metal on Sheer Heart Attack, but they broke down all the barricades on A Night at the Opera, a self-consciously ridiculous and overblown hard rock masterpiece. …It’s prog rock with a sense of humor as well as dynamics, and Queen never bettered their approach anywhere else.

Queens of the Stone Age – Rated X 2000 EU LP

Queens of the Stone Age - rated x u.s. lp

Offered for sale is a limited edition EU pressing of X by the Queens of the Stone Age.

This album is known by several titles, including X and Rated X.  The title on the spine is Feel Good Hit of the Summer.

About this copy: This copy of X is a 2000 pressing on the Interscope Records label.

The cover is VG++ with no wear, but with two minor corner bends.  There is a hype sticker on the cover that says

The disc is M- and looks unplayed.  Clean disc!

A nice copy of a pretty good LP.

Background: Released in 2000, R, Rated R, X, Rated X, or Feel Good Hit of the Summer was the second album by the Queens of the Stone Age.

The album reached #54 on the UK album chart but did not chart in the U.S.

Allmusic.com gave Rated R a 5 star review:

The second Queens of the Stone Age album, Rated R (as in the movie rating; its title was changed from II at the last minute before release), makes its stoner rock affiliations clear right from the opening track. The lyrics of “Feel Good Hit of the Summer” consist entirely of a one-line list of recreational drugs that Josh Homme rattles off over and over, a gag that gets pretty tiresome by the end of the song (and certainly doesn’t need the reprise that follows “In the Fade”). Fortunately, the rest of the material is up to snuff. R is mellower, trippier, and more arranged than its predecessor, making its point through warm fuzz-guitar tones, ethereal harmonies, vibraphones, horns, and even the odd steel drum. That might alienate listeners who have come to expect a crunchier guitar attack, but even though it’s not really aggro, R is still far heavier than the garage punk and grunge that inform much of the record.

A beautiful copy of an album that rarely turns up complete.

Background: Queen was released in July 1973 and reached #24 on the UK charts, but peaked at only #83 on the U.S. charts, though it later was certified gold.

Allmusic.com gave Queen a 3 star review:

Like any patchy but promising debut from a classic rock group, it’s often easy to underrate Queen’s eponymous 1973 debut, since it has no more than one well-known anthem and plays more like a collection of ideas than a cohesive album. But what ideas! Almost every one of Queen’s signatures are already present, from Freddie Mercury’s operatic harmonies to Brian May’s rich, orchestral guitar overdubs and the suite-like structures of “Great King Rat.”

The album reached #4 on the UK charts and #3 in the U.S., making it the first Queen album to chart higher in the States than it did in Britain.

Allmusic.com gave News of the World a 3 1/2 star review:

If Day at the Races was a sleek, streamlined album, its 1977 successor, News of the World, was its polar opposite, an explosion of styles that didn’t seem to hold to any particular center. It’s front-loaded with two of Queen’s biggest anthems — the stomping, stadium-filling chant “We Will Rock You” and its triumphant companion, “We Are the Champions” — which are quickly followed by the ferocious “Sheer Heart Attack,” a frenzied rocker that hits harder than anything on the album that shares its name (a remarkable achievement in itself). Three songs, three quick shifts in mood, but that’s hardly the end of it. … News of the World was a monster hit despite its coldness — when it works, it’s massive, earth-shaking rock & roll, the sound of a band beginning to revel in its superstardom.

A nice copy of a scarce Queen LP.

The LP reached #1 on both the U.S. and UK charts, helped by the single, “Another One Bites the Dust.

Allmusic.com gave The Game a 4 1/2 star review:

Queen had long been one of the biggest bands in the world by 1980’s The Game, but this album was the first time they made a glossy, unabashed pop album, one that was designed to sound exactly like its time. They might be posed in leather jackets on the cover, but they hardly sound tough or menacing — they rarely rock, at least not in the gonzo fashion that’s long been their trademark. Gone are the bombastic orchestras of guitars and with them the charging, relentless rhythms that kept Queen grounded even at their grandest moments….. But the very fact that it does showcase a band that’s turned away from rock and toward pop means that for some Queen fans, it marks the end of the road, and despite the album’s charms, it’s easy to see why.
